Transformation loops [Collab with Maryna Shtukina]
Transformation. A continuous loop of the destruction of the old, fear, overcoming, resilience, letting go, metamorphosis, seeing a new perspective - repeat. Growth is an aftermath, but not the end of the story, rather something to get you to the next level. That comes with new challenges, new players, unlocked resources and its own bosses.
Apart from the observation of how the process of transformation evolves, this series also explored the parallel with nature, where nothing ever stays the same, and goes through the loops of birth, bloom, fading, death and rebirth. In this sense, death doesn't draw a boundary to life but is one of its phases.
A joint project with Maryna Shtukina, exploring the process of transformation we both went through this summer. Shot on Madeira (Portugal) and in Kos (Greece) with our favorite #35mm Harman Phoenix film. We began with a shared theme, Transformation, and a set of subthemes. Each of us photographed our own interpretation to create a dialogue between two visions. The final images, although taken in different places, ended up similar in five frames. With nothing but words to guide us, we followed separate paths and proved that photography is a unique language for expressing the inner journey of transformation.
