In between dreams
I have always loved sleeping. Beyond the physical rest, waking up can make you feel alive, clean, new. As one writer put it, it feels as if you just came back from washing, and your soul smells pleasantly of a laundry powder. They say that dreams are a product of our subconscious, which makes watching dreams even more fascinating.
Most nights, one dream replaces another coherently (as much as dreams can be coherent) and without interruption. It's as if a skillful dream-DJ is mixing them together into one long nocturnal track - transitions so smooth you rarely notice them at all. Yet sometimes, you can notice a moment of emptiness in between. A moment of nothingness, where you can escape even the dream dimension. The ultimate escape.
The photographs were taken with Harman Phoenix film throughout 2024 and 2026, in Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece and Germany.
